Beam Detectors
Beam detectors detect fire through the disruption of an (infrared) light beam caused by smoke particles. They are mainly used to protect large or high spaces, where point detectors would either react too slowly because of the height or become too expensive due to the number required.
A multispectrum beam detector (e.g. OSID) operates based on changes in both UV and IR light beams and is therefore less susceptible to false alarms. In addition, multiple transmitters can be connected to a single receiver. Cabling on the transmitter side is not required, as it operates on batteries.
