Gas Detection

Detect the silent killer

Effective and efficient detection

experience

Since its inception, Alertis has gained experience in gas detection as part of the broader field of fire detection. Today, however, we go much further: our scope now includes not only flammable gases (with fire and/or explosion hazards, such as methane, butane, propane, and ammonia), but also toxic (CO, hydrogen, chlorine, ammonia) and asphyxiating (oxygen deficiency) gases. Applications range from simple detection in boiler rooms to industrial applications.

knowledge

Our expertise is built on close collaboration and partnerships with the manufacturers we have selected (Honeywell Analytics, Limotec). Knowledge is indeed the key to success, both during the preliminary project phase and during commissioning and regular maintenance. Detection of flammable gas, for example, is an “early warning” system in which the concentration of the gas in the air is measured up to a level of max. the LEL, the lower explosive limit.

application

For the detection of toxic gases, the unit of measurement is concentration in “parts per million” (or ppm). This therefore requires separate consideration, as the hazards, regulations, and required types of detectors vary.

The industrial sectors in which Alertis specializes include manufacturing environments, frozen food storage, water treatment, food processing, and waste recycling.

research and design

Customized Solution

  • Selection of the appropriate sensor based on the gas hazard (fire or explosion; toxic; asphyxiating) and the customer’s risk analysis
  • Analysis of the flash point and ignition point
  • Analysis of vapor density to ensure optimal placement
  • Analysis of the LEL (Lower Explosive Limit), UEL (Upper Explosive Limit), ppm (parts per million), and MAC (maximum allowable concentration)
  • Analysis of control systems upon detection
  • Analysis of relevant legislation and standards

Installation and commissioning

Programming tailored to your needs

  • Coordination of installation in accordance with regulations
  • Programming of the control panel
  • Configuration of control signals for gas valves, sirens, an alarm center, etc.
  • Commissioning of the system
  • Inspection of the system
  • Preparation of technical documentation

maintenance and repair

Increase your safety and extend the service life of your system by testing, validating, calibrating, and recalibrating the gas sensor

The warranty period for supplied materials and services is valid for a period of 1 year from the date of commissioning. However, the average service life of a gas detector is limited and is as follows:

  • for methane/butane/propane: 5 years
  • for CO: 4 years
  • for oxygen: 1 year
  • for ammonia: 1.5 years
  • The manufacturer recommends annual maintenance with calibration of the gas detector to ensure the system continues to function properly.

Alertis has a team of more than 60 service technicians capable of commissioning, maintaining, and repairing a system. You can therefore rest assured that everything will be handled correctly and with care. There are many economic reasons why signing a maintenance contract is a good idea:

  • An annual inspection of your system ensures more reliable operation
  • You are fulfilling your responsibility by acting in accordance with the principles of due diligence
  • In the event of a defect or malfunction, you have access to our 24/7 service desk, and repairs will begin within 8 hours of your request
  • You receive a discount on hourly rates (-15% on labor costs) and materials (-7%)

technical service desk

Peace of mind when you need it

Our service desk is staffed around the clock, 24/7, by experienced technicians. This service is available to you if you have a maintenance contract.

If necessary, the technician can take over your system remotely, assist you by phone or via remote video, or establish a direct IP connection with the central office.

You can always reach the Alertis service desk at the general phone number +32 51 74 71 79, regardless of where you live.

remote monitoring via the Safespace platform

Your security is monitored even when you’re not thinking about it

Are you sure your gas detection system isn’t malfunctioning? Who continuously monitors the fault alerts? Who handles your malfunctions? Are these people available 24/7? These are questions of vital importance and, if you want to address them properly as the person in charge, they can cost a fortune.

Alertis offers you a cost-effective and reliable IoT solution: the Safespace platform!

The principle is simple: our technician establishes an IP connection to the Safespace platform via your existing internet connection or the mobile data network. You will be able to monitor your system in real time, wherever you are. And, in the event of a malfunction, our service desk will be able to perform an initial remote intervention if necessary.

You save on maintaining your own 24-hour technical service and are assured of high-performance security.

education

Proper training for all your users prevents frustration

Our service technicians are committed to providing you with thorough training on how to use all our systems, both during initial setup and during annual maintenance. In addition, you will always receive a concise user manual for your reference.

Our partner electrical installers, safety consultants, and engineering firms are also welcome to contact us for annual training sessions. Topics covered include, for example, training on cabling and installation regulations.

These training sessions (for installers) are recognized by Volta.

alarm camera connection

Get notified of every alarm in a timely manner

Who ensures an appropriate response to an alarm when you are away? Who takes charge of an “alarm situation” in that case?

A monitoring center can give you the constant assurance that every alarm will be handled correctly and promptly; after all, your alarm system continuously transmits information to the 24/7 monitoring center. The operator will take the necessary actions, as previously discussed and agreed upon with you (who to call first, when to contact emergency services, etc.).

The monitoring center can also alert you if there is no longer a telephone or internet connection.

Remote video surveillance provides additional peace of mind. This is the ideal solution for closely verifying any situation and responding immediately, appropriately, and efficiently. The primary goal of video verification services is to eliminate doubt, and in such cases, they will therefore involve an additional analysis of the recorded alarm notification(s).

emergency services

Who responds to the scene in the event of an alarm?

An external response team can be dispatched to your site in the event of an alarm. They will arrive on-site and take the necessary steps to protect your property.

Your site is already equipped with an alarm system and is connected to a 24/7 monitoring center. To ensure an adequate response to any type of incident, you need to be able to count on personnel who can intervene after an alarm and strictly adhere to legal instructions and integrity rules.

Alertis partners with G4S Mobile Guards for this purpose.

G4S Mobile Guards are committed to responding very quickly to ensure the safety of the goods, equipment, and materials on your site. Once on-site, they take the appropriate protective measures on your behalf and then prepare a report for you. To ensure strict confidentiality, each client’s security data and keys are made available to the guards only at the time of the intervention. The keys are stored in a decentralized network with a key cabinet monitored 24 hours a day, or on your site under optimal security conditions.
